A Service Provider has some information that he wants to distribute via a broadcast channel to his customers. The primary purpose of the Axentia Subscriber Management System (Axentia SMS) is to allow the Service Provider to regulate who should get access to its information. The Service Provider is thus able to get paying subscribers to his Service and make money.

The Axentia SMS is analogous to broadcast encryption schemes such as Eurocrypt® which is used to introduce Conditional Access to TV transmissions. The Axentia SMS is tailor-made for generic data transmissions over a packet oriented medium bandwidth channel.
